KIM’S WARSHIP LAUNCH ENDS IN EMBARRASSMENT
North Korea’s highly anticipated 5,000-ton destroyer launch turned into a national embarrassment as the vessel tipped sideways and sustained heavy damage during its launch at Chongjin Port.
Satellite images now show the warship partially submerged, its hull mangled, and draped in tarps, signaling a failed rollout likely caused by a malfunctioning flatcar, which collapsed beneath the ship, crushing key sections of its base.
Leader Kim Jong Un, who witnessed the fiasco in person, was reportedly enraged, calling the incident a “criminal act of carelessness” and demanding accountability from military and scientific officials before June’s high-level party meeting.
The launch was meant to showcase North Korea’s naval modernization push—but instead highlighted serious structural and technical shortcomings.
